This course is designed for leaders seeking to grow their nonprofit organization while laying a strong financial foundation for the future. It is more important than ever that nonprofit management adopt a proactive approach to understanding the financials of their organization.

Funders today are looking to invest in nonprofits that steward financial resources in a responsible manner that ensures long-term success for the organization.  In today’s environment, the CFO and Director of Finance are no longer solely responsible for the financial and business decisions of an organization.  CEOs, Executive Directors and Program Managers must also develop financial literacy so they too can make the best business decisions to support their programs and missions.  There is no mission delivery without financial viability.

Introduction To Accounting And Financial Statements

This 8-week course is designed for those who’d like to understand the accounting process and standards that govern the preparation of financial statements utilizing US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

The first part of the course will provide an overview of the accounting process, introduction to accounting standards, the rules of debits/credits and how business transactions flow to the company financial statements. The second part of this course will focus on interpreting and analyzing the three most common financial statements – Balance Sheet, Income Statement and Statement of Shareholders Equity.
